GENERAL HAIR TIPS FOR ALL GENDERS

A year ago I didn’t know pretty much how to properly take care of my hair. Coming from Kenya all I knew was shampooing and the shampoos I used were full of sulfates, then conditioning and oiling. And I considered that a pretty solid hair routine. A year later I’m proud to say that I know how to properly take care of my hair and identify what’s good and what’s not good for my hair.

This is what I learnt from my one year experience as a natural hair enthusiast:-

*Genetics play a key role to good and healthy care. Most people don’t really acknowledge this fact as a key to hair growth but it truly is.*Water. I can’t stress this enough but this is the plug to healthy hair. Not only does it play as a good moisturiser it also promotes healthy hair and skin. You have to start taking of your inner beauty before seeing a difference in your outward appearance.

*Don’t over wash your hair. Washing your hair once or twice a week is okay or even once a month is fine but don’t over wash it. You’ll be stripping your hair of its natural oils making it dry and unhealthy.

*Avoid over brushing your hair. Unless you really have very strong hair that doesn’t shed nor break, you have my blessing if you want to over brush your hair.

*Deep condition, deep condition, deep condition! To promote hair growth and encourage healthy hair growth this should be in your routine every week.

*Use sulfate free products. Sulfates remove your natural oils and personally once I use a sulfate product my hair and scalp feels so nasty and crispy. Throw the ones you’ve and thank me later!

*Scalp massages.  increase circulation to your head and in turn promote healthy hair growth and if used with an oil it can help get rid of dandruff.

*Avoid heat as much as you can. This was my hair poison because I was so used to straightening my hair that I suffered from heat damage.

*Use a satin bonnet or a silk scarf or satin pillowcases  or durags for the men to protect your hair from losing moisture. Moisture is important to your hair. Don’t rob your hair from that.

*Eat healthy! I wish I could scream this but healthy hair comes from a healthy body. Don’t put poison in your body and expect to reap healthy fruits.

*Reduce stress. Whatever is stressing you please fling it to the bin because you don’t need that negativity in your life especially if you want a healthy mane.

*Exercise. It helps promote a healthy growth cycle and increases blood flow to the scalp and promote circulation to the scalp resulting to better hair

*Patience and consistency because change doesn’t happen overnight unless you’ll be using miracles to grow your hair.

SHARING IS CARING!!!
