Self-Care is More than Just Bath Bombs and Face Masks

Hi, my name is Ursula and I am here as a guest writer. I want to say a big thank you to my friend Naliaka Brenda for giving me a piece of her space on her blog to share my thoughts. This article is going to talk about a few things I believe are important to consider when we talk about selfcare.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about self-care is priorityAs a person, you want tomake sure you reassess your priorities. It is important to know what you want and how you are going to accomplish it. This can be on a daily, weekly or monthly basis or really any time period that works for you. Taking time to assess all your priorities will give you a clear vision of what you want to accomplish

Another self-care tip which has been beneficial to me is spending time alone. I am known for taking a lot of time to myself. The time you spend alone is the only time you actually get to think about yourself and your life. It gives you an opportunity to sit back and think about where you are holding back and where you’re excelling. And it’s also a nice time to get away from the drama of being a human being. Try to allocate time to for yourself weekly or daily. Go to the gym, watch a movie, write in your journal, meditatewhatever it is just make sure you are doing it alone.

The third thing that I am personally still working on is sleep. We have heard time and time again that sleep is very important for your mental health. I have discovered that it is. It really is. You cannot function efficiently without enough sleep. Some people say ‘OhI am good with only 3 hours of sleepNO, YOU ARE NOT! You may feel like you’re rested but your brain is not. I have learnt that a lack of sleep has caused me to be anxious, sluggish and just not my best self. Therefore, make sure you sleep guys. It’s important. Also, make sure the sleep you’re getting is not only enough but of good quality. Make sure your sheets are clean (some people don’t wash their sheets often), your pillow should be fluffy (don’t be sleeping on any flat, sad pillow). Comfort is a priority when it comes to quality sleep.

In all, self-care is more than just indulging in beauty regimens that makes you look rested. It includes performing activities that actually make you rested. Knowing that you are getting quality sleep, spending time alone and reassessing your priorities every once in a while, contributes to your overall help in a way that is more significant than you think. Thank you once again to Brenda for giving me an opportunity to share this post on your blog.
