Here are my 10 ways to take care of your natural hair during
cold seasons:

1. Deep condition once a week

During cold weather, moisture is ESSENTIAL and deep
conditioning will help you restore the moisture that might be lost.

2. Wash your hair less often

Over washing your hair will strip it of its natural oils
that help to keep your hair moisturized and protected.

If you want to keep your hair fresh, you can use a dry
shampoo in between washes. Moreover, use sulfate-free shampoos to maintain the natural
moisture balance.

3. Wear protective styles

This will help you cut down the manipulation to your hair,
prevent breakage and tuck your ends away from the wind and cold air. But don’t
just do a protective style and forget about, take care of your scalp by keeping
it moisturized.

4. Use a leave-in conditioner to combat static

Lack of moisture plus friction caused by sweaters, scarves
and hoodies make your hair frizzy and static. Thus it is important to generously
apply a leave-in conditioner to prevent static and keep your hair smooth.

5. Don’t go out with wet hair

Cold air expands the hair shafts, making the hair prone to
breakage. Make sure you hair has dried completely before stepping outside.

6. Drink at least 8 glasses of water

Hydration starts from within and drinking enough water will
encourage hair growth and stimulate a healthier scalp. Moreover, your hair won’t
look dull.

7. Wear a satin lined hoodie to prevent split ends

Cover your hair when stepping outside because the cold air
strips the air of moisture. Avoid cotton or other coarse fabrics which causes
split ends due to friction.

8. Buy a humidifier

Humidifiers help balance the moisture levels in the room to
prevent dryness which is caused by a room heater. A room heater is great for
keeping you warm but it dries the air inside your room. Investing in a
humidifier will be beneficial.

9. Wash your hair with lukewarm water and finish off with a
cold rinse

Hot water will strip your hair of its natural oils and
moisture and we are trying to avoid loss of moisture during cold seasons. Start
with lukewarm water and seal your ends with a cold rinse.

moisturized and also nourish the hair follicles.
